So, as everyone knows by now, the latest iteration of the (in)famous fighting franchise Mortal Kombat feature guest starts from the DC comics universe. Of course, some staples, such as Batman and Superman will undoubtedly show up, but we got to thinking… Who would we really like to see in Mortal Kombat vs. DC? Take a look at our list, after the jump. |
- #10 Black Canary - Great legs, great fighting skills, and a voice that would give Sindel a run for her money.
- #9 Darkseid - Omega Beams + Superman-level strength + evil, manipulative bastard? What’s not to love?
- #8 Green Arrow - Dozens of trick arrows? Check. Great hand-to-hand skills? Check. Smart-ass attitude that could keep up with Johnny Cage? Check.
- #7 Clayface - With all his shape-changing abilities, not to mention raw strength, Clayface could have a ton of cool moves at his disposal.
- #6 Black Adam - Probably the only guy here that could stand toe-to-toe with Superman. Black Adam has something ‘Big Blue’ doesn’t: Magic. Magic in the form of vicious thunderbolts. Plus unlike sissy Captain Marvel, he has no problem with messing fools up.
- #5 Solomon Grundy - A physical powerhouse, and actually one of the more interesting and somewhat complex characters in the DC rogues gallery, Grundy is someone who never gets enough play.
- #4 J’onn J’onzz - Super strength, telepathy, shape-shifting and the ability to fly and make himself intangible. Except maybe for telepathy, all things that would come in pretty handy in a fight. Besides, there’s no denying the fact that the Martian Manhunter is a P I M P.
- #3 Lobo- Space biker. Do I need to say more? Apparently. Lobo is one tough son of a bitch, and brings a attitude that’s fairly unique among the DC Universe. Plus, he’s got nasty hooks, chains, and a bitching ride. He’d fit right in.
- #2 Bane - Bane is martial arts master, and a lot of people tend to forget he is actually a smart guy too. When he starts pumping the drug Venom, he gains incredible strength. Let’s not forget?he is one of the few people to take down Batman; something even Superman has had trouble with.
- #1 Dark Knight Returns Batman - Frank Miller’s Batman in the Dark Knight Returns in an older, angrier and generally far more bitter Batman; the kind of Batman who’s given up on a lot of the “nicer” stuff he used to go by. He is one rough motherfucker, and he is going to get the job done.
Of course, aside from their main superhero-centric universe, DC also publishes a number of other comics. Although these are characters that would probably never show up in a game like this, a fanboy can dream.
- Boy Blue (Fables)
- John Constantine (Hellblazer)
- V (V for Vendetta)
- The Saint of Killers (Preacher)
Runners-up
Those who didn’t quite make our top 10:
- Vixen
- Atom Smasher
- Huntress
- Atomic Skull
- Amazo
- Harley Quinn
- Doomsday
