Heavy boots of lead, fills his victims full of dread.

The Iron Man demo hit Live yesterday and I was quite thrilled to finally get my grubby hands on it. As I am an admitted comic book dork, Iron Man has me more then a bit excited. Once you fire up the demo you get a little time to tool around with the armor, and then it’s on to the action.

O.K., my first thought; the flight. Ouch. It just feels way too loose. Push the stick just a little too far and your armor’s gonna need a new coat of paint from smacking into the dirt. Not completely broken, but kinda has a learning curve to it.

In the mission, you’re presented with a few caches of stolen weapons to destroy. Cruising around this nice big desert landscape is nice, and defiantly looks pretty. Tanks, gun batteries, helicopters and soldiers will all try and get in your way. The demo closes with a peek at some kinda huge hovercraft battleship, but of course the demo ends before you get to engage it.

After playing the demo, I have two great hopes for this game: I hope it gets a lot of tightening up; the weapons and flight just feel loose. I also hope the missions become more varied. If I’m just running around a bunch of different environments blowing up stuff, that’s all well and good for a bit, but it’s not gonna hold my attention too long. Still, this is far from the worst movie-licensed game I have ever played.

Iron Man lives again, for every console imaginable, May 2nd.
