Welcome to episode three! On this show, we give some short reviews of Wild Arms XF and Army of Two, and talk about how you should play Crackdown because it’s awesome and now also really cheap. Lots of talk about things coming to Xbox Live Arcade, including Street Fighter and Bionic Commando. Also a little talk about some interesting indie games out there on the internets, and browser gaming. We also pontificate on larger issues effecting the gaming industry, such as EA’s attempted take-over of Take-Two, and why 50 Cent’s new game will probably be stupid. Show notes after the jump.

Show notes:

  • Ben buys a PSP, loves Wild Arms XF, won’t shut up.
  • Crackdown is cheap?and awesome?at Target. Go pick one up! It’s only $15 bucks!
  • Our opinions on Army of Two. Verdict: It could have been better, but we still kinda liked it. (read David’s full review here)
  • ROM CHECK FAIL is nuts, awesome.
  • Instant Action: really excellent 3D, in-browser games.
  • Obligatory Off-Road Velociraptor Safari pimping.
  • Tom Clancy’s Endwar could be incredibly awesome, but might get Ben killed.
  • Bioware making Sonic Chronicles…’k. Will it be like Super Mario RPG? Do people actually care about Sonic characters?
  • Super Streetfighter II: Turbo HD Remix, starting to see some actual screens and stuff, looks awesome. David cannot wait.
  • Bionic Commando Rearmed also coming. Bionic Commando + Streetfighter breaking the XBLA 150 meg limit, heralding a new era? Also, will be cheap.
  • XLBA cheaters were made fools.
  • Halo map pack now free! Hooray! Also other map news.
  • Wii owners getting shitty (PS2) version of Rock Band.
  • Rock Band in-game store is “pimp”. Previews are awesome.
  • Gibson being dicks about music games.
  • 50 Cent’s game: “Blood in the Sand” is ridiculous. So is 50.
  • Original video content for XBLA. Could promising, probably not. Beginning of an interesting idea, though.
  • EA attempting to take over Take-Two. Good or bad? Big effect on sports games, but we don’t care. Does competition drive innovation?
  • Is the video game industry recession-proof? Maybe not, but they’re doing better than most other forms of entertainment. Games are better escapism.
  • Not a lot of new releases, but we talk about them anyway.
  • Shattered Orange box, Portal is totally worth $20.
  • Sam and Max sounds awesome, we should be playing it.
